Our Focus
At the DC Head Start Association, we are dedicated to advancing our mission by actively engaging our members through four key pillars: leadership, advocacy, professional development, and parent/family engagement. These efforts empower our community, strengthen early childhood education, and ensure that every child and family has the support they need to thrive.
Leadership
We are committed to fostering leadership growth among Early Head Start and Head Start staff, as well as parents of young children, by providing meaningful opportunities to engage in committees and participate in transformative programs.
Professional Development
We collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to provide professional development opportunities tailored to Early Head Start and Head Start staff roles, as well as the needs and interests of parents of young children.
Public Policy & Advocacy
We advocate for high-quality, continuous, and comprehensive early childhood development services and supports, shaping policies and practices that ensure all children are prepared to succeed both in school and in life..
Parent and Family Engagement
We collaborate with local and national organizations to provide programs and activities designed to strengthen the role of parents and families as their child’s first and most important teacher. These initiatives equip parents with the tools and resources they need to support their child’s early learning and development at home and beyond.
Our Impact
We are making a profound difference in Washington, DC by serving the most vulnerable pregnant women, infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children, and their families through Early Head Start and Head Start programs.
